If you're planning on having guests over to stay but don't have a spare room, a sofa bed is the perfect solution. By day it's a comfortable place for you and your housemates or family to sit on while the hours way whereas by day it offers a place for friends to sleep!

Two or Three-Seater Sofa Beds

The first thing you'll need to decide is how many people are likely to be staying on your sofa - if you're hosting more than one person a two-person sofa bed may not have enough room (unless they're willing to snuggle). A three-person sofa bed will comfortably host two sleepers - plus it gives you an extra seat for those early evening drinks.

Different Positions and Mechanisms

Most sofa beds use a simple click-clack mechanism which allow you to drop the back down to make a bed. While you'll need to move your sofa from the wall to allow this, they're one of the simplest ways and can also allow you to use a reclining position. Others may be pull out or roll out, meaning they can be kept next to a wall but require a couple more steps to unfold your bed.
