They provide protection from both the sun and the rain, can be easily decorated for parties, and add a stylish touch to your space. Whether you're after a pop up, freestanding or metal gazebo, you will find something to suit you and your garden.

What is the difference between gazebos, pergolas and marquees?

Gazebos

Gazebos are usually stand-alone structures which offer you protection from weather, whether it’s sunny or rainy! You can also attach it to your house as an addition like you would with a conservatory. It's also similar to a canopy or a porch, where you could keep flowers and plants or it's also a pretty good spot to set up your BBQ! They're also usually a good place to put your garden furniture, particularly in the summer so you can still enjoy the warmth without being in direct sunlight.

Another good option is a pop-up gazebo. These look a little bit like tents, which we're sure the kids will love, but still offer you good protection and coverage from the weather. Pop-up gazebos are collapsible and fold down to a more compact and portable size, which is ideal if you're popping to a friend’s or down to the beach! It's also handy because you won't have to worry about setting it up, as it will literally pop-up.

Pergolas

If you're looking for a stunning outdoor garden feature, then a pergola could be just for you. The main difference between a gazebo and a pergola is the open roof canopy pergolas have. Pergolas provide shade while still allowing you to feel the sun rays. They also are great if you would prefer a decorative structure instead of shade.

Marquees

The main difference between a gazebo and a marquee is the size. Marquees are a lot larger and can accommodate a much larger group of people underneath. Whereas gazebos are good for smaller gatherings.

Where is the best place to put a gazebo?

This will vary depending on your garden. We recommend placing a gazebo in a flat area to ensure its stability. It’s also important to avoid overhanging trees so you don’t get a lot of debris on your gazebo. You might find placing it in the corner of your garden ideal for privacy, or near a water feature a good place for the atmosphere. Ultimately, it is down to you, your outdoor space and your preferences.

Can you leave a gazebo up permanently?

If your gazebo has a permanent structure made out of a material like wood or metal, it is fine to leave your gazebo up all year. However if your gazebo is a pop up or temporary, we recommend taking down your gazebo when it’s not in use. These gazebos are not made to last through harsh weather conditions routinely, so storing these away will prevent damage and prolong their lifespan.
