What Is Brow Lamination?
Brow lamination is a little bit like a perm for your eyebrows, you've had curly hair, now think curly brows! The treatment works in a similar way to a lash lift, but with brow lamination, it's your eyebrows that are being lifted. It's a way of enhancing your natural eyebrows by manipulating the hairs in a certain way by using chemicals on them. Overall, brow lamination provides your eyebrows with a fuller and neater look, whether they're naturally thin or thick!
How Does Brow Lamination Work?
At your brow lamination appointment, your therapist will apply a cream first that aims to lift up the hairs of your eyebrows. They will then brush the hairs upwards to help pull them all into the same vertical direction. Then, a neutraliser is applied to help secure your eyebrows into place. Finally, your therapist will add a nourishing oil to help prevent any skin irritation or dryness that may be caused by the chemicals. Your treatment will take a maximum of an hour to complete. Your therapist may also need to remove any excess or stray hairs with tweezers or wax some of your hairs to create the ideal arch of your eyebrows.
Benefits Of Brow Lamination
Brow lamination can help you address some problems or issues that you may be having with your own eyebrows. As brow lamination helps to thicken your eyebrows, it will help if you find your eyebrows have been thinning, which can be related to age. It can also help to cover up any gaps you may have in your brows from overplucking or over-waxing previously. If you're someone that finds different hairs going in different directions no matter what you do, then this treatment will definitely help you, as your therapist will ensure all the hairs are uniform and are in the same direction!
Side Effects Of Brow Lamination
Side effects are common with any type of treatment that you have, but brow lamination is not an invasive sort of treatment, so any side effects that you do experience are usually pretty mild! However, it's completely normal after you've had the treatment to experience swelling, redness, itching and peeling of the skin. This is usually due to an irritation caused by the chemicals, and can occur above and below the eyebrows and sometimes on the eyelids too. This usually only lasts a few days and should quickly clear up. Be aware that this treatment is not recommended for those who have sensitive skin, rosacea, eczema or a history of contact dermatitis.
How Long Does Brow Lamination Last?
Like most treatments, brow lamination is not a permanent treatment, meaning that its effects are only temporary and you would need to have the procedure done again. It's recommended that in order to maintain your new thicker fuller brows, you'll need to have the treatment done once every few months, but it is recommended to wait at least 6 weeks between each session. After each session, your therapist should also apply a moisturising oil or cream to your eyebrows to prevent them from drying out, and it's also a good idea to do this at home yourself too to get the best results from the procedure!
